Pizza update!

Back when I blogged about pizza I searched for a long time on the Flying Pie website for their instructions on how to make really great pizza at home. I finally found it here! I don't know if they moved it around on their site or what, but it was not where I remembered it being. Or perhaps, the thought of delicious pizza has clouded my memory. It doesn't really matter, just that I found it!

one of my more brilliant moments

toothpick lunch

My kids are on a year-round school schedule. There are pros and cons to this type of calender. One of the cons in my opinion is it often makes more work for me in the kitchen, trying to decide what to feed everyone three times a day. I can repeat things more often when its just the little ones at home but the bigger kids like more variety.  read more »

Frugal justification for weight loss

Remember back in January when I resolved to lose weight? I can't even begin to tell you how many sweets, desserts, chips, cookies, and fried foods I haven't eaten. In the last seven weeks I've lost 13 pounds. I still would like to lose 23 more. As I got dressed recently I started compiling a list in my head.  read more »

on a clear day you can see forever

Tetons

How do I love thee Tecnu? Let me count the ways...

1. I can get you at Walgreens.
2. You remove poison ivy and poison oak oils.
3. You smell nice.
4. It doesn't break the bank when I buy you.
5. Should I find myself in a storm of nuclear fallout, I can use you to clean my skin.
6. The bottle is pretty big.
7. You can clean stuff, not just people and pets.
8, 9, and 10. You removed SKUNK SPRAY from the Frugaldog late last night so she didn't have to sleep outside in the sub-freezing temperatures.

Sneaky sneaky

Like most moms I am always trying to get my kids to eat more vegetables. Last summer when I was overrun with summer squash I finely shredded a lot and froze it in bags. I have discovered that I can add the finely shredded squash to spaghetti sauce and the kids don't even notice! It looks like grated parmesan cheese and is undetectable in taste or texture. Yay for sneaky vegetables!

DIY Furniture for a fraction of the price

I'm afraid Frugaldad and I both have the same disease. It's the "I'm not going to buy that because I can make it myself" disease. Which can totally save money, provided you actually make the item in question. You've seen my fabric stash. I almost only buy fabric with a specific project in mind. See that red fabric under the table? It's going to be a skirt for me. Someday. I've had it for over a year now with the intention of making a great holiday skirt from it, but its place on the priority list falls as I decide to sew Christmas presents and stuff. I end up with a huge pile of to-do's. (This year I've vowed to get through my to-dos before I buy more fabric but that is a post for another day.)  read more »

I'm so cute!

what a cutie!

Way behind...

on blogging!

I have a lot to blog about but a lot of the pictures are still on the camera.

Meanwhile, since the baby is a couple of months old now and I put on a few pounds over the holidays (after losing all my pregnancy weight in only a couple of weeks, thankyouverymuch) so my current focus is trying to lose some of the 40ish pounds that I have put on since Frugaldad and I got married and I had 5 kids. I've learned that I have been eating a lot more junk between meals than I realized so hopefully I can lose a lot of these extra pounds just by cutting out the extra snacks and stuff.  read more »
