No need to spend a ton of money on baby shower gifts! Something handmade is almost always more appreciated and needn't take a lot of time.
I spent some time at the sewing machine this morning whipping up a couple gifts for a couple of new babies being born in my circle of friends over the next month. The instructions for the ruffles come to you courtesy of Char and her award-winning tutorial. I've "known" Char for years and years online (like since we had 1 kid each or something and met on a parenting forum) and she makes some really cute stuff.

I picked up a 5-pack of newborn-size bodysuits at Target on clearance for about $6.50. The fabric was a 99-cent fat quarter.
This one is just an applique applied with Wonder-Under and then stitched around the edges. The apple comes from an Alexander Henry print called Apples and Pears that I bought at Jo-ann (on sale of course!). I sewed my sister an apron from Christmas from this cute pattern and the applique was cut from the scraps.
You also want to see a picture of the apron, no?

For a little bit of my time and a few inexpensive materials, I have two adorable and unique gifts for two sure-to-be-adorable and unique babies.

As the proud recipient of the apron, I can attest to its awesome-ness. Love it!

I linked the apron pattern in the post, but it is the Emmeline apron from Sew Liberated (used to be Montessori by Hand)
Those turned out SO cute! I
Those turned out SO cute! I love the fabric you used for the ruffles.
Can you share which pattern you used for the apron? It's great.
And I'm pretty sure I had 2 kids back then....but it has been almost 7 years!
